Monsoon Makes a Grand Return: Hyderabad Soaked as Rains Lash City After Brief Break

After a short pause that left many wondering if the monsoon had taken an early holiday, the rains made a dramatic comeback to Hyderabad last night (Wednesday). Various parts of the city and its suburbs experienced a significant drenching, much to the relief—or perhaps surprise—of residents.
While Wednesday dawned mostly cloudy, hinting at rain to come, the skies held back for the better part of the day. However, as evening turned to night, the heavens truly opened up, delivering a heavy downpour across several localities.
The western parts of the city bore the brunt of the heaviest rainfall. The areas surrounding the University of Hyderabad recorded a remarkable 148.5 mm of rain, turning roads into temporary streams. Close on its heels, MMTS Lingampally logged a substantial 114 mm, signaling a proper soaking for that region.
Chandanagar also saw impressive figures, with 109.8 mm of rain recorded. Nearby tech and residential hubs weren't spared either, with Gachibowli receiving a healthy 81.3 mm, Miyapur 46.3 mm, BHEL 26.3 mm, KPHB 23.3 mm, and Rajendranagar 19.3 mm.
The sudden return of the monsoon is a welcome sight for many, bringing down temperatures and refreshing the city after its brief dry spell. Residents are now bracing for what the rest of the monsoon season has in store.
